What Is BOC-3?
The ‘Blanket of Coverage’ form is a document required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to prove that a company/individual has a designated contact in every state (and District of Columbia) to handle legal documents on their behalf. The BOC-3 is required by the FMCSA and other agencies to grant operating authority.
Designation of Agents for Service of Process
The BOC-3 (Designation of Agents for Service of Process) is one of the requirements to secure operating authority and maintain an active interstate operating status. Authority status is not granted to any trucker for hire, broker, and freight forwarder until the company/individual files their BOC-3 form with the FMCSA. In fact, only a BOC-3 Processing Agent such as Abante Carrier Services have the authority to file the BOC-3 form.
